IN MEMORIAM OF MR JAMES TSENG (PELANDOK)

Dear Scouts,

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mr James Tseng Yan Lin (Pelandok). Pelandok passed away peacefully at 9.41 p.m. on 9 December 2018. He was 91.

The wake will be held from Monday, 10th December to Thursday, 13th December at 25 Namly Crescent, S 267540. The nightly prayer service will commence at 8 p.m. The funeral will be held on Thursday, 13th December. Cortege will leave from 25 Namly Crescent at 1.30 p.m. Funeral mass will begin at the Church of St Ignatius at 2 p.m. Cremation will be at Mandai Crematorium Hall 3 at 3.45 p.m. till 4.15 p.m.

In 1950, James Tseng, then a young teacher, helped revive the Scouting movement in SJI following its disruption during the second World War. He adopted the Scouting name ‘Pelandok’, and Scouts of SJI began calling themselves Pelandok Scouts. James Tseng went on to serve as the Group Scout Leader from 1950 to 1997.
